How montaye works

From the official document to what a business must do, by when and how much: every step below is one montaye takes each day, with today's numbers.

From the document to your list

  1. Official documents 98 addresses watched

The agencies' publications, the codes, the official APIs: each fetched and compared every day.

Last checked Oct 22, 2026, 5:29 PM UTC

  2. Read, then checked 20 documents read into facts

Each rate, threshold and date with its page and its words. A new edition is taken only once every check written from its own text passes: the worked examples it prints, where it prints them, to the cent.

  3. Facts in force 86 facts in force today

Each for the days its document holds; and 6 rules for what the law leaves to a test.

  4. What you record

Its legal form and home, its year, how the IRS taxes it, where it does business, who holds it, who works for it; numbers only when they decide something.

  5. What you must do

Each obligation with its due date, its amount where the document prints one, and how the date was counted.

Every document and fact, as /status lists them

How a date is counted

A requirement says when, counted from a period; the authority's closed days move it. Every due date on your list opens on this chain, with the document's sentence under it.

  1. The period ends
  2. so many months on, a day of that month
  3. a weekend or a holiday
  4. the next open day: due

What montaye covers today

Counted from the facts in force today. A number is how many facts of that kind montaye reads for the place.

Place Due datesAmounts and tablesTests the law sets Paycheck withholding
United States (federal) 1864 One paycheck
California 11103 One paycheck
Delaware 1816— —

Not yet

What montaye does not tell you yet, so you know to look elsewhere:

  • When to deposit payroll taxes and how much (Form 941, Social Security and Medicare, monthly or semiweekly), and the quarterly payroll returns.
  • California payroll: registering with the EDD, the quarterly DE 9, unemployment insurance.
  • Sales and use tax.
  • Places other than the United States federal government, California and Delaware.

Withholding, one paycheck at a time

Given a pay date, how often pay is paid, the gross and the employee's form (W-4, DE 4), montaye computes the federal income tax to withhold by Publication 15-T and California's by the EDD's Method B, each line naming the table and page it read. It is an API for now (payroll.calculate); it does not keep payrolls, so it does not yet add them up into deposits.
