Privacy policy

montaye keeps as little about you as it can. Here is all of it.

1. In short

montaye does not keep the paychecks you send it, only a fingerprint of each request. It never sees your key again after showing it to you once, and never sees your card.

2. Your account

When you sign up, montaye keeps your name and email; a scrypt hash of your password if you set one, never the password; your sessions, with the network address and browser each came from; and the one-time codes it emails you, hashed, until they are used or expire.

3. API keys

When a key is issued, montaye keeps the label you gave it, its first characters, and a hash of the key. The key itself is never stored.

4. Calls

For each call montaye records the action, when it ran, whether it was answered or refused (with the code), and SHA-256 fingerprints of the input and the answer, not the input or the answer themselves. For a calculation it also records which facts and which version of its code were used.

5. Network address

Your network address is used briefly to limit how many trial keys can be issued in a minute. montaye does not store it with your calls. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived operational logs.

6. In your browser

This site sets one cookie when you sign in: your session, with a short-lived signed copy of it, so montaye knows it is you. It also stores your choice of light or dark theme in your browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Payments

Stripe handles your card; montaye never sees it. montaye keeps only Stripe's references to you as a customer and to your subscription, with its status.

8. Where it lives

montaye runs on Cloudflare, which serves the site, stores its files and sends its email; keeps its database with Neon, in the United States (Oregon); and takes payments through Stripe.

9. Your choices

Call records are your account’s usage and the record of what was computed, so they are kept with the account. Write to us to learn what montaye keeps about your key, or to have it closed.
